How can cosmetic dentistry help me?

Some of the conditions helped by cosmetic dentistry include:

  • Spaces between teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Unsightly, stained or washed-out fillings
  • Crooked or poorly shaped teeth

What techniques are used to correct these problems?

Porcelain Veneers

A porcelain veneer can give the front surface of a tooth a “face lift.” The tooth is prepared to receive the veneer, a bonding material, and the veneer itself is then applied. Veneers cover stains and close spaces between teeth.

Composite bonding

A composite resin is used to replace smaller amounts of tooth structure. The tooth is treated with an enamel conditioner to aid adhesion, and the resin is applied and shaped to recreate the original contours of the natural structure. The new surface is then polished to achieve a natural appearance.

Whitening

Stained or yellowed teeth are whitened using a take-home treatment which includes whitening gel and custom made upper and lower trays.

Tooth-coloured fillings

Naturally colored composite resin filling materials are used to replace old or lost restorations which provide more esthetic results.

Crowns and bridges

Crowns can replace or strengthen existing tooth structure that is lost or compromised by cracks or root canal therapy. Bridges span a space with natural-looking replacement teeth where one or several teeth in the dental arch are completely missing.

Orthodontics

Also known as braces, orthodontics can alter the growth of bone and the alignment of teeth by applying gentle pressure over time to achieve a more esthetically pleasing smile.
